Feedback from alumni
"Being in France and studying with students around the world was a great experience for me. Also, the professors were introducing a European aspect of the world economy; it was rather different from the American education system that acquired in the U.S.A. I have to say my horizon has widened with the education I gained here at the Sorbonne. Also, the level of math was very challenging which was quite a test for me."

"I arrived to PSME searching for a quantitative angle that would complement my previous studies and I must confirm that I got what I yearned for.
The PSME program was a challenge for me but the structure of the year and the closeness between colleagues made it a successful experience.
The first semester was a rigorous and profound introduction to economics and to a highly quantitative mentality. The second semester allowed me to focus on specific topics of applied economics that interested me.
Finally the dissertation gave me a chance to combine my previous work experience and the tools I had gained during the year, to achieve results I felt quite proud of."
"The course offered by Paris 1 provides an opportunity to gain an understanding of post-graduate level economic theory and its application. For me personally, gaining a post-graduate qualification in economics was vital to gaining promotion and making further progress at work. The opportunity to study in another country provided me with a significant personal benefit in terms of living in another country and learning a foreign language."
"Lecturer of university & Entrepreneur of SME in Beijing, China, frankly I have never regretted my choice... PSME is actually one of solid programs in economics in Paris 1 and also in the world. It is really an honor for me to be among the first 5 alumni of PSME 2007-2008. Before joining PSME, I had already 2 Masters in Management and Linguistics ; but I have to admit that this Masters of PSME offered me more than all my previous studies... In short : without mentioning all the top-level professors and the spotless administrative support, it is for me the ideal marriage between the traditional Sorbonne system (public) and the top business schools (private), between the academy (theory) and the market (practice)... I have really enjoyed this intensive year of studies which have also established a solid foundation for me to continue my studies in the second year of International Economy (M2R IEDT) in Paris 1. Finally, I will not hesitate as usual to offer necessary assistance to comers, especially to those from China..."
"The PSME Program was an amazing choice for me.
Having studied in the Netherlands before, it was very interesting to see a different academic system.
The courses were good and interesting, yet some of them quite formal. A nice bonus were the french classes.
The best thing about the PSME however were the people.
Living together with a large part of the PSME students at the Cité Universitaire changed my point of view and lead to interesting discussions after long library days.
Studying in Paris adds a nice twist to the PSME since the cultural possibilities are literally unlimited.
As I am doing the MPhil at the Sorbonne now, I feel that the PSME has prepared me well and that I would chose it again!"
"Overall the program is a very rigorous 1st year of master studies. I learned a lot of advanced economic topics that I had very limited knowledge in prior to this program. PSME has prepared me with the tools necessary to advance my career and meet my personal ambitions. I also had the opportunity to study with some very good professors and learned from their expertise and experience, especially in the 2nd semester. The thesis allowed me to explore a topic of my interest and put to use the knowledge and skills learned throughout the year. "
"The PSME program gave me a very good overview of economics on an advanced level.
In the first semester, four general courses (micro and macroeconomics, econometrics and economic growth) teach the basic theory and tools needed to advance further in economic topics. These courses contain mathematics on a high level, which I found very useful for the understanding of scientific papers and for my second year (MPhil) here at the Sorbonne.
The second semester allows you to go deeper into the topics of your interest. As there are some very knowledgeable Professors, these courses can give an interesting overview of the topic and it's recent developments. Finally, the dissertation in the end of the year gives an idea of how to write a scientific paper.
Besides this, the PSME program gives a good opportunity to get to know interesting people from all over the world.
For me, this was a great experience!"
"The PSME in Paris 1 was a great experience!
I had the opportunity to get access to different fields of economics which broadened my horizon. The courses equipped me with insight and tools to do further study in my field of interest.
I enjoyed the class discussion very much as it was always inspiring and encouraging.
Most of all, I enjoyed my colleagues from all over the world. Coming from different cultural backgrounds, we were all equaly concerned about globalization and after heated discussion most of the time came to a concencsus."
Last but not least, “international cuisine” (everyone prepared a dish of his or her national style) in the common cuisine in Cité U was an unforgettable part that can not be missed!
